clerk& is built by Leeside Labs Limited, an Irish company building a careful, EU-only AI clerk for the barristers, clerks, and small firms that the legal tech industry has spent twenty years ignoring.
The story
The founders spent years watching the same evening repeat itself across the Irish bar. Counsel finishes court at five. The fee notes are still being drafted at nine. The attendance note from a Tuesday consult is finally written on Friday, from memory. The administrative tail of a working practice is always one day behind.
The existing tools either expect a hundred-counsel firm with an IT budget, or are general productivity software that knows nothing about Irish legal work. Neither helps the sole-practitioner barrister at the Law Library, and neither helps the senior clerk on a Wednesday at half past nine.
clerk& is the tool we wanted: opinionated about the work of barristers and clerks, equally at home with a sole practitioner or a busy room, and architected so that privileged material never leaves the European Union.
The team
James Harnedy — software engineer, Cork. Thirty years of software, including VP Engineering at AI procurement platform Keelvar and leadership roles at Johnson Controls and Gibson Innovations. Builds the product.
Cindy Zoons— legal assistant to barristers, Cork. Brings the on-the-ground perspective on documentation, fees, and the rhythms of a working clerk's room. Shapes the product.
The company
clerk& is a product of Leeside Labs Limited, an Irish limited company named for the River Lee in Cork. Registered in Ireland. Tax-resident in Ireland. EU-only infrastructure. We don't have an American parent, and we don't intend to acquire one.

clerk& is opinionated about the work of the Irish bar — fees, briefs, attendance notes, correspondence — and trained on Irish legal vocabulary. It is not a wrapper around a chat box.

Privacy as architecture
EU-only infrastructure is a technical constraint, not a marketing line. We do not transfer your data to the US. We do not use your work to train models.
